2012 J24 District 7 Championship and Rochester Worlds Warm-Up

August 25-26

J24 Logo   Oswego Yacht Club is pleased to host the 2012 J24 District 7 Championship and Rochester Worlds Warm-Up.  If you have never sailed at our venue in the past, this is the year to give it a try as our sailing conditions often mimic those of Rochester.  Located 40 miles from Syracuse and 60 miles from Rochester, Oswego is an easy place to get to (in the summer) via route 81 to 481 or the New York Sate Thruway to route 481.  Don't even think about venturing here in the winter when the lake effect snow machine is doing its thing!

The open water Lake Ontario race course is a mere ten minute sail from our pull- through hoist where you'll also find a separate gin pole and plenty of parking.  Boats will stay in the (fresh) water for the entire weekend at our club docks.  Our venue may be the most user friendly you'll have ever experienced.  Several hotels are within 2 miles of OYC and limited private housing may be available.

As a bonus, we are also happy to announce that Mike Ingham from Quantum Sails will be running a tuning clinic on Friday afternoon.  Mike is a regional and national champion in the Thistle, J24, JY 15, and Tornado classes.  He's also coached sailing at Yale and URI as well as privately.   He plans to video multiple short practice races from a coach boat starting 2PM on Friday, followed by video review and comments over beer and pizza at the club.   So come early, and grab some go fast pointers.
