The Oswego Yacht Club Wednesday Night Race Series continued the past three weeks with the following results. On the Wednesday before SAIL Oswego the fleet was tuning up for the big regatta. The race was sailed in six to ten knots of a northeast wind with the crew of “Crusader” setting a windward-leeward course to the east of the harbor. “Dream On” from Division was irt overall and first in division. Second overall was “Oz” from the J/24 fleet and third overall was “Blaze” from Division 1 and “Sail A’Vie” third in division. Fourth overall and first in the Non Spinnaker division was “Neige D’Ete” with “Dark Star” second. Second in the J/24 feet was “Rake Hell” and “Significant Other” in third. In Division 2 “Splash” was first followed by “Judicious” in second and “Colorme” in third.

On July 29th race twelve was held with “Luna Nova” providing the Race Committee in light winds under five knots. The wind shifted over 45 % before the race was started. In a short twenty to thirty minute race “Rake Hell” was first overall and first in the J/24 fleet. “Oz” was second and third overall from Division 1 was “Hiawatha”. “Dream On” was second in Division 1 and “Crusader” was third. “Truckin” was third in the J/24 fleet. In Division 2 “Splash” was first, “Colorme” was second and “Judicious” was third.

This past Wednesday was the last race of the Summer series with many positions still up for grabs. The crew of “Cariad” called for a Ford Shoals race with a harbor start in fifteen to twenty knot west winds with large waves to challenge the crew. “Dream On” took line honors in one hour thirty and a half minutes but that was not fast enough to correct over half the fleet. The high winds and waves took it’s toll on one boat in the fleet as “Smokin Deal” broke it’s mast in half as it sailed toward the Ford Shoal buoy west of Rudy’s Stand. The J/24 fleet took the first five overall spots with “Oz” first, “Rake Hell” second, “Seaweed” third, “Shockwave” fourth and “Point Counter Point” fifth. In Division 1, “Blaze” was first followed by “Hiawatha” and “Crusader” third. In division 2 “Judicious” was first, “Colorme” second and “ Splash” third. “Neige D’ Ete” from the Non spinnaker division was thirteenth overall.

Final results for the Summer Series are as follows:

Division 1 :

Brendan Benson “ Blaze”

Dan Mather “Crusader”

Bob Porter “ Hiawatha”

Ron Smith “Splash”

Phil Mc Brearty “ Judicious”
